02:50 am - Cake-mix Cobbler
My brother and his fiancée made this when we were in Michigan, and it was great, so I made it as well. Just as I started I grabbed the camera to make a photo recipe because I always think about it far too late.

For this you will need 1 cake mix, 12oz of pop, and 1-2 cans of pie filling. I also added in some chocolate chips, next time I might add nuts or coconut. I only used one can of pie filling but I really think it would have been better to use two. I used Cherry Coke, which didn't work as well as the Vanilla-Cherry Dr. Pepper my brother used in Michigan. I think ideally you should use a black cherry pop when using cherries for filling- I've also seen recipes calling for 7-Up or Sprite.

Put the pie filling and any extras in the 9x13 ungreased pan. As you can see, one can doesn't go very far.

Pour your cake mix on top of the cherries. I then added the rest of my chocolate chips just to use up the package.

Next, pour a can of pop (12 oz or 355mL) over the whole thing. You can see that using cola makes it foam a bit- this resulted in a slightly unevenly moistened final product. Bake this at 350F for 30-40 minutes.

The finished product. Yes, there are dry clumps still, but that's how it should be. There's enough sauce from the pie filling underneath to sufficiently moisten the dessert, and Olly had his with double cream, which he said was great.

4/5 stars- when I make it next I'm going to try a different flavour of pie filling with a yellow cake mix and a clear pop like Sprite.

Current Mood: yum!
